Today I slept in a bit but tried my best to force myself out of bed.
Today is “biking adventure day” in my “free time and fun” week itinerary! I wore a babydoll dress, a cardigan, brown leggings, brown mary Janes, and my polka dotted messenger bag.
I biked to the post office to drop off my friend Gretchen’s package.
I then biked to the bike shop to get my chain fixed.
The man who runs the bike shop is always nice and never asks for payment when servicing my bike, but he’s not much of a talker so ive always felt a little intimidated by him because I can’t tell if I’m annoying him with my bike problems and attempts to make small talk!
Today I managed to have a pleasant conversation with him while he fixed up my bike, though. Even though I only asked about my chain, he went the extra mile and refreshed my bike entirely by fixing the chain, readjusting the bike, fixing my light that was missing a bolt, and pumping the tires. I insisted he let me pay him this time!! I even learned his name, and he told me to be safe on my way out.
I then went to the bakery to grab something to snack on and a bottle of milk tea to enjoy throughout todays adventure.
Last semester, when biking to a local Korean restaurant 3ish miles away from my apartment to attend a birthday get together, I found a beautiful scenic bike path that led to the restaurant. I only biked a short stretch of it, but i loved the experience so much. Today I took a similar route, because I want to explore the trail!
I used the trail to bike to the restaurant and had lunch there.
All this for $20…….. I even have leftovers.
After my meal I continued exploring the trail. I wandered for miles and miles. The trail goes much farther than I anticipated and I want to explore more of it in the future! I took some scenic photos.
I absolutely love the giant transmission towers. They made me feel so small as I biked alongside and under them.
I decided to try to find my way home and got a little lost.... I ended up at a different bakery across town and decided to stop by to buy a slice of cake for tonight’s dessert. Look at all the pretty cakes!
Eventually I found my way, retraced my steps, and rode home. I walked up a hill near my apartment and read The Summer Hikaru Died and snacked on melonpan + milk tea.
Today was more relaxed than yesterday but I had a lot of fun and I’ve been wanting to do this for a long while. Tomorrow I’m having another solo trip!!!! I’ll try to sleep early.
